Ricke graduated with honors from Washburn University School of Law
in 1994. While a law student, she was a member of the Washburn Moot
Court Council and competed in the John Marshall School of Law National
Moot Court Privacy Competition. She was the secretary of the Washburn
Student Bar Association and was an active member of the Phi Alpha Delta
legal fraternity. She also served as a law clerk to Robert T. Stephan,
the 39th Attorney General for the State of Kansas.
Ricke was an Assistant Attorney General with the Criminal Litigation
Division of the Kansas Attorney General’s Office under Attorney General
Carla Stovall before joining the firm. She served as general counsel
to the Kansas Child Death Review Board and reviewed cases of alleged
abuse and neglect in state juvenile mental institutions in addition to
her litigation duties. Ricke testified before the Kansas Legislature on
issues relating to the registration of sex offenders in the State of
Kansas and argued State of Kansas v. Kym E. Myers, 260 Kan. 669, 923
P.2d 1024, cert. denied, 117 S.Ct. 2508 (1996), a case challenging the
constitutionality of Kansas’ sex offender registration act, on appeal.
Ricke joined Fisher, Patterson, Sayler & Smith, LLP in 1998. Since
that time, she has successfully litigated a wide variety of matters,
including products liability, electrical contact, governmental
municipal liability, and professional liability cases. She has both
first and second chair trial experience and has argued before the
Kansas Supreme Court and the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Western
District of Missouri. Ricke is a graduate of the International
Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy.
