Kelly A. Ricke

Ricke graduated with honors from Washburn University School of Law in 1994. While a law student, she was a member of the Washburn Moot Court Council and competed in the John Marshall School of Law National Moot Court Privacy Competition. She was the secretary of the Washburn Student Bar Association and was an active member of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. She also served as a law clerk to Robert T. Stephan, the 39th Attorney General for the State of Kansas.

Ricke was an Assistant Attorney General with the Criminal Litigation Division of the Kansas Attorney General’s Office under Attorney General Carla Stovall before joining the firm. She served as general counsel to the Kansas Child Death Review Board and reviewed cases of alleged abuse and neglect in state juvenile mental institutions in addition to her litigation duties. Ricke testified before the Kansas Legislature on issues relating to the registration of sex offenders in the State of Kansas and argued State of Kansas v. Kym E. Myers, 260 Kan. 669, 923 P.2d 1024, cert. denied, 117 S.Ct. 2508 (1996), a case challenging the constitutionality of Kansas’ sex offender registration act, on appeal.

Ricke joined Fisher, Patterson, Sayler & Smith, LLP in 1998. Since that time, she has successfully litigated a wide variety of matters, including products liability, electrical contact, governmental municipal liability, and professional liability cases. She has both first and second chair trial experience and has argued before the Kansas Supreme Court and the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Western District of Missouri. Ricke is a graduate of the International Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy.
